Officially 15

Hi there! So, a lot has happened these past few days... like, I'm not kidding. I'm pretty sure that too much has happened, and I think that my brain is still processing on what is happening to get a feeling that it's reality...

Anyways, moving on to what I am about to tell you here. I turned 15! Yay! Yes, it was my birthday 5 days ago (11th of October) and this made me realize that I am beyond blessed. Thank you so much, God, for giving me a life until today. Without You, I don't know where I would be today.

I just wanna say that I have the best bunch of people in my life. The d-day of my birthday was a student council (or in Indonesia, OSIS [Organisasi Siswa Intra Sekolah]) training, so me and my friends spent the night at school to get trained for being a part of the organization. My mother insisted me to bring tumpeng nasi to school so that I could share my happiness of turning 15 with my friends and my teachers. As much as this made me embarrassed, I felt happy that this brought us to closer to each other, and more or less everybody gave their prayers to me which was such a spectacular way to know that you are loved.

Me, Mita, and the tumpeng, of course

That morning, I went down from my room to have breakfast and saw my mother already wandering about at the dining room. She was like, "Wah, 15 already lah." And I'm just like, hahaha. And then she suddenly said, "Hey, why don't you check the refrigerator for fruits?" It's kind of my daily routine to eat fruits (they're healthy, so it's a good habit, right?). There's a slight feeling inside of me that tells me that I wouldn't find any fruits there in the refrigerator, and will see something else instead. Woah, my guts were right. I was surprised with a cake with a two-eyed minion frosted on it.

The minion cake! My mother said she picked this out for me because she thought that it is cute

Hey, I don't fancy minions at all, but I really appreciate what my mother did for me. She's the best mother that I could ever ask for, and if somebody offered me a trade, I would immediately decline it.

As soon as she saw me seeing the cake, she clapped her hands and shouted "surprise!". She then sang Happy Birthday to me, and said to wait for Dinda and my father to come down so that I could blow the candles and do the usual stuff.

Me le blowing the candles

I was so happy, even though the cake wasn't the way I wanted to be I'm just genuinely happy. Posting a picture of me and my cake on Path that morning made me get birthday greetings from friends that I don't usually see. And that also made me happy.

Because I really wanted to share my happiness thoroughly (otl), I asked my mother if it was okay to invite a huge amount of my friends and some close relatives over at Sunday. She said that she was okay about it, and she prepared us a bunch of food for us to offer them at October 13th while we gathered in my house and just, became ourselves and had fun together. My mother bought bakso, satay, and made some es kelapa. My father contributed also, he gave us nasi kuning and spaghetti. There were also fruits and the minion cake was already separated to be eaten.

Kai and Eyang (my grandpa and grandma from my father) also came to wish me a happy birthday and gave me some prayers. I feel so blessed to still be able to see them at the time being. God bless them a long life...

We were singing Selamat Ulang Tahun (Happy Birthday Indonesian ver.) when Kai got the lyrics wrong. That's why I was laughing

Oh yeah, because my mother thought that one cake isn't enough (hey that sounds like Ariana Grande's song! Haha) she bought two. Here's the look of my second cake.

Just in case you don't know, I really like marine life. I'm very happy with the look of this cake, it's just so cute and it screams my name all over it.

I got several presents from my friends. I swear, they're the sweetest. From Farras, I got a Keroppi clock. From Audrey, I got an orange sweater and a story book that she stated wasn't so cheesy. From Ina and Rani, I got a purple and pink flower crown.  From Mita, Annisa, and Salwa, I got a blue My Melody doll. From Erika, I got a Stitch measuring tape (she said that her gift is useless, but it meant something to me anyways =P). From Nabila, I got a Rilakkuma mug, and lastly, from Arinda, I got this cute mug with a bear design on it. (I'm sorry, I don't have the photos of these gifts right now. Maybe I will update. Maybe.)

In Indonesia, when somebody has their birthday, there's this tradition called ceplokin or tepungin. To ceplok means to throw somebody with eggs, and to tepung means to throw somebody means flour. Okay, so. People in Indonesia celebrate their friends's birthdays by throwing their friends with eggs and flour. Usually it's not either one, but both at once.

Basically, it all started with Ina asking everybody to go out and play hide and seek together. It took her a while to get all of us outside. We used cang kacang panjang to decide who will seek and the rest will hide. I ended up seeking, and my friends hiding. I didn't really understand why, but I counted all the way to 100 (in a slow remark) and after that, tried to find my friends who were all hiding behind my neighbor's car. I already said their names and told them to get out of there, but they didn't.

"Why don't you come over them! You're so not fun." Bara said.

Me, being my stupidly innocent self, went close to them until I realized what in the world was happening.

Yep, I got ceplok'd and tepung'd. By my friends.

I surrendered. There's no point in running anyways, so... I just laid there on the asphalt ground, and got flour and eggs all over me. I felt as if I was a cookie dough. Hey, I didn't know what to do!

My friend took a pic of me being covered in flour and eggs. Check it out!

God, I look horrifying

Because it was Yusril's birthday also, he also got ceplok'd and tepung'd. But unlike me, Yusril ran away when my friends tried to throw eggs and flour to him. He said he got bumps on his head due to the egg-throwing, other than that, he also smelt as eggy as I was.

Haha :P

Because I knew that Ina was behind all of this, I hugged her and tried to scrape as much flour and eggs to her that was all over my body. I knew I got the suspect right, because my mother told me afterwards that she was the one who asked her if it was okay to ceplokin and tepungin me.

Well, even though my house (and the street in front of my house) became an utter mess, I will never forget the moment that I shared with the people that I cherish. I really love all of them to bits, and they are willing to sacrifice stuff in order to make me happy. I'm just so blessed; thank God.

There are also stuff that happened after my birthday got in place. I got elected as the head of the student council (which still feels weird... but heck, I'll do my best in serving as one!), and I also got through the selections of an English Olympiad (although I suck at grammar) and will be leaving for the next round in Malang on the 27th of October. This is still mind-boggling, but yeah, I'll do my best.

Lastly, in this age of 15, which I consider "halfway to halfway" (because 15 is halfway towards 30, which people consider as a "middle-age"), I pledge to become a better girl. A better girl from a lot of aspects, I wanna be able to get out of my comfort zones and became a extraordinary-er me. I would like to bring goodness not only to me, but to other people also.
