In eating, there are lots of paths that people can take.
For instance, the "clean eating" trend that has been happening for quite a while now, which I notice through Instagram. No, it's not a bad thing at all, I admire the dedication that the "clean-eaters" have when it comes to sticking with their programs and doing their best to make themselves "healthier".
Turning "vegan" is also something very popular nowadays, and it's also not something bad, since they are supporting a right for every animal to live the way they should be. (But I can't help but ponder at the fact that plants are living things, too. What if they experience pain without us knowing it? Then, what should we do to proclaim ourselves as "cruelty-free"? I don't want to starve to be "cruelty-free"... haha, whatever. Moving on...)
There are lots of diets, eating plans that people do in order to keep themselves "in shape". Ways that have become so popular in the eyes of many, and seeing the results (that are so often being shown through celebrity bodies), we all dread to try them so that we can have those kinds of bodies too.
But, whatever plan you choose, please, remember this:
Food does not come from nowhere. It comes from life, from everything that is here on this Earth. From water, from air, from the sun. From the things that happen underneath the soil or above it. From the things that fall from the sky. From the animals that chew on their food. From the things that drift in the wind.
And most importantly, food comes from the people who work hard for it.
Food comes from the people who work hard to grow and nourish it. From the beads of sweat that come out from of the skins of people want to earn money to feed people. From they who wait and constantly take care of their crops and animals from the first day to the last. From they who turn the steering wheels of the vehicles that take the food from the fields to where you are. From the people who cook, who put all their hearts and hard work to produce the best meal: just for you.
So, whatever is on your plate, be grateful for it. Be it a pile of mashed potato, a handful of french fries, a whole cake with rainbow sugar frosting on it... be grateful. You are lucky to be having food in front of you, not many people are as lucky as you. And most importantly, remember: food does not come from nowhere.
